Manchester: Team India, which has been performing well in the World Cup (2019) being played in England, is a big setback. And his opener Shikhar Dhawan has been out of the whole world cup.
It is true that KL Rahul gave the team a fantastic start against Pakistan, but this is a big setback for India. Especially considering that the peak had established his jugglery with Rohit when he got a form with an impressive century against Australia. And when his loved ones were hoping that Dhawan would fit soon, he would play some similar innings again, then this news disappointed him that now his favorite batsman will not be able to play in the remaining matches of the World Cup.
According to the latest tweet of the BCCI, Dhawan will remain in the medical surveillance till mid-July. And now that the World Cup final is to be played on July 14, Dhawan will not be a part of the rest of the World Cup.
Dhawan was injured in the match against Australia when a rising ball from a Coulter Nile hit the thumb of his left hand. Due to injury, he was not fielded during the entire innings against Australia at the summit. After a day when his injury was done X-ray, the minor fracture was found in the thumb. And after this Shikhar Dhawan was out of the next three matches.
In his medical observation, he had a hairline fracture in his thumb. Initially, it was believed that left-handed batsman Dhawan would recover from injury in about three weeks. As his cover, left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was sent to England, who has been in England for almost a week with Team India.
After the exit of the summit’s World Cup, the BCCI has to meet the technical formalities and the permission of Dhawan’s option from the ICC will be taken. Rishabh Pant, who has joined the team as Dhawan’s cover till now, will get the status of Team India.
